A few years ago, I had this squirrely idea for a project where I thought a bunch of different people should cover The Palace Brothers’ “I am a Cinematographer”…as a power pop song. (sample on iTunes)

Going through an old hard drive tonight, I found the two versions I made — a couple of the first things I ever made in (the then-new) Garage Band.

  • I am a Cinematographer (Europop Version)
  • I am a Cinematographer (Noise Pop Version)

“Gracefully executed and cathartic, The Agony of Laffitte is possibly the best double-cross retaliation single in the history of rock, so effective that it’s difficult to want to hear the villainized Laffitte’s side of the story.” —Review of “The Agony of Lafitte” by Spoon

“The ‘roadside ambush’ scene was shot in one extended take with a special camera rig invented by Doggicam Systems. For the scene, a vehicle was modified to enable seats to tilt and lower actors out of the way of the camera. The windshield of the car was designed to tilt out of the way to allow camera movement in and out through the front windscreen. A crew of four, including the DP and camera operator, rode on the roof.” —Children of Men - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
