When the Bread Dies, Everyone Knows It (The Gentlemen Who Dine) Don’t miss Lance’s review from our dinner last night at The French Laundry, including a wonderful collection of FL-related facts and trivia. Amazing night, and I agree with a lot of what Lance writes. When it gets down to it, I probably lack the capacity for luxury to enjoy a place like French Laundry as much as I’m meant to — or even to enjoy it without a feeling of something like stress. It’s not their fault. I think I’m just not fancy or self-confident enough to just soak it all in. Now as for that pre-correction $800 bottle of wine? Wow. That was a white knuckle moment.
