For a while, I thought it was Sacks-Minnelli Disease. At length, I oscillated between The Tux Age and Tang Tangs. Still lots of affection for a sleeper, Expressed as a Vest.
At the risk of outing myself as my own show’s biggest fan, this morning, I declare the best episode of You Look Nice Today to be…
It’s all there. Offensive, self-referential, long, surreal, pasta, cholera, Joyce, burros, sweet corn, balls. And Adam’s editing. Still. Wow. Go back, and give it another listen. Lot there.
I like the whole episode, but the first 11 minutes (mp3) is special.
Seem sad and self-involved to unapologetically love something you helped make? Sure. Whatever.
But, Jesus, does it ever feel a thousand times better than never having made something you genuinely think turned out great. Seriously.
Now that I’ve had it both ways, I can highly recommend choosing to make things you like with people you think are awesome. By comparison, the private consolations of doing otherwise turn out to be surprisingly modest.
Or, to quote lonelysandwich:
“Right is on my forehead, Richard Lewis-style;
and left is…on my balls…just…me-style.”
