1. Bill Cosby - Himself (“Drinking”)

    Quick list:

    • Godfather II
    • Pulp Fiction
    • Rushmore
    • Rosemary’s Baby
    • The Big Lebowski
    • Bill Cosby: Himself

Off the top of my head, I’d only count a couple of those as a favorite movie, but they all have one thing in common; if any of these come on TV, and if it’s anything in my power, I stop what I’m doing, and I sit down, and watch it to the end. Right through the credits and down to the cob.

Bill Cosby: Himself is a stitch, and contains some of his best and rightfully famous bits from his later standup years; lots of subtle physical humor and the trademark mugging that don’t come through on the albums.

And a hundred minutes after it starts you can’t believe the entire thing was just Cosby. Chair. Mic. Scrim. Cosby. That’s it. Try being funny for an hour and a half by yourself some time. Talk about drinking.

Anyhow. Cosby’s got timing, delivery, mic skills, stage presence, and a catalog of material that no one but him could make half this funny. Man’s the master, and as far as I’m concerned, this movie’s a contender for his best work.
