in Hamilton Center Took Eleanor and Mad to New College today. This is the student union where an extraordinary amount of my early 20s was spent eating cafeteria food, checking my mail, listening to the jukebox, laying things out in Aldus PageMaker, and drinking one thing or another. I also — for one amazing semester in 1989 — had the uncanny ability to defecate in the Ham Center Men’s Room precisely at noon every weekday. It was a gift. An extraordinary gift.
