I think “Pack A Small Bag” may need to be converted to its own project.

My awesome friend Alice gave me a ticket to see this upcoming show featuring John Roderick, John Hodgman, Jonathan Coulton, Merlin Mann, and Scott Simpson.

I drew John Hodgman in Edward Gorey style some days ago, because he’d responded to someone’s tweet with a desire to be drawn as such. Since Gorey is no longer, I gave it a shot.

I sort of suddenly wanted to draw everyone in the upcoming show in the same style for kicks, and to challenge myself a little. You can see a couple of teeny in-progress teaser bits, then the full art.

This was on my desktop labeled “Incidental Powder”, though it could have just as easily been “Morning Boners”.  It isn’t though, because I’m a lady and a professional* [most days] and so I’m pretty careful about file nomenclature.

(*scientist: not audio engineer, clearly.  The internal association engine went from drunken hobo to this pretty quick, though.)

  7. yhf:

In episode 26 of Roderick on the Line, John Roderick related a tale from the wee hours of a recent morning, wherein he awoke briefly to discover that the pillows on his bed had transformed, in situ, into owls. As he was asleep when this occurred, he had no idea of the transformation as it took place and therefore could not witness it.

My artistic rendering of the events directly preceding takes some liberties, primarily when it comes to the owl speaking (“Owls can’t talk, dummy.”). I also made this owl a brown one rather than the white owls related in the original story because I cannot draw owls and thought this would help identify what I was going for. (As if “OWL” over the image wasn’t enough to indicate.)

NOTE: Bridget has already artistically observed this occasion, with IMO quite a bit more polish and subtlety.

I made a logo for SuperTrain™. I feel it nails the spirit of the public face of Future Deranged Billionaire/Supervillian John Roderick.

Love.
