I’m really lucky to get to hang out with this deeply talented asshole.
Love that guy. Outstanding mic skills.

Hey, I’m Mary Timony. While Carrie sings, I’m just gonna space out over here and tear it the hell up with my guitar playing like it’s no big deal, that cool with you? Yeah, I’ll probably even do some tapping up on the neck while I just kinda float around in a cloud of awesome. It’s all good.
This was and is one of my favorite R.E.M. songs. And, this live version from the Reckoning era pulls together pretty much everything I loved about R.E.M. v1.2 (of 4, per Roderick on the Line e12).
This song has a lot of great things about it (just so many), including that it’s not too hard to learn on guitar. Viz.

just didn't seem to be too real.
Thing is? If you’re gonna play it? Go the extra step.
Yes. Play the A7. But.
Jangle it up a little. Throw in this guy. A7sus4.
You’ll know where. Try it.

It makes the song, right? Or at least makes the song an early R.E.M. song.
Anyway. You’re welcome.
