Carl Anderson - “Heaven On Their Minds” (Jesus Christ Superstar; 1973)
Kinda makes you root for Judas just a little more.
OT: I love that they left in Sir Andrew’s tremendous piano clam around 2:21.
You think you know exhaustive? Friend, you don’t know from exhaustive.
This is a Siracusa-class tour de force—a kind of ersatz “Screenwriter’s Commentary” of The Avengers from a fella who obviously knows a thing or two about how good movie-stories get put together.
Me? I love this movie. But, sure, I can totally respect why some folks don’t. And, if you are one of this film’s numerous and vocal non-fans, I highly doubt that this article will magically reverse your opinion. And, that’s okay.
But, clocking in at over fourteen-thousand (14,000) words, I’d still say this particular epic exegesis of a narrative is well worth a read for any fan of movies, comics, or the surprisingly complex mechanics of telling a story with economy and flair.
Very nicely done, Mr. Alcott.
Phantasm Trailer (1979)
Unforgettable theme music and the awesome spiky orb that gave me nightmares for six months.

NOTE: Based on recent podcasts, I think Merlin may be cussing obsessed with Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Making of Fantastic Mr. Fox: A Film by Wes Anderson Based on the Book by Roald Dahl [Hardcover]
Wes Anderson (Author)
$25.63
Originally published in 1970, Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox tells the story of the Fox Family. After twelve years, the Fox Family’s quiet home life proves too much for Mr. Fox’s natural animal instincts. When his young nephew arrives, Mr. Fox slips back into his old ways as a smart bird thief and, in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community as well. In Fall 2009, audiences will cheer as award-winning director Wes Anderson (Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Darjeeling Limited) brings us his take on the tale: a blockbuster stop-motion animation film shot entirely in high definition.

I’m an enthusiastic fan and evangelist of Let the Right One In.
And, no, I’m not linking to anything but Netflix, because I’m loath to deny you the chance to go in with the same three data points I had going in:
Don’t read another word about it. Just watch it. Trust me.
